These scarabs were sent across the universe to find a host that could be manipulated into becoming a sleeper agent for the Reach. Eventually, Jaime’s scarab, which initially caused him unbearable pain, starts communicating with him in English rather than its alien tongue. The scarab even gives itself a name – Kaji Dha – a nod to the quote Dan Garrett would use to transform into the Blue Beetle.
