The news was officially confirmed by Warner Bros. Discovery during its recent earnings call. It was revealed that Mortal Kombat 12 is not only currently in development, but it is also targeting a 2023 launch. This exciting announcement comes as no surprise to fans of the franchise, as every Mortal Kombat game since 2011 has been developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by its parent company, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (now known as Warner Bros. Games).
And that’s not all! Mortal Kombat 12 isn’t the only major release set to come from Warner Bros. Games this year. Developer Rocksteady Studios’ Suicide Squad: 杀 the Justice League, a spinoff of the Batman: Arkham franchise, is also set to launch this May. With two highly anticipated titles on the horizon, it’s a great year to be a fan of Warner Bros. Games.
Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon took to Twitter to share his excitement over the news, teasing fans by saying, “So who has heard the news about Injustice 3?” Boon is no stranger to the world of DC 漫画, having previously worked on the Mortal Kombat-esque fighting game series Injustice: Gods Among Us and Injustice 2.
